Godly Play
Children have an innate sense of the presence of God.
What they often lack is the language to express their faith, the experiences of hearing and seeing the stories of Scripture, and the time and space to respond.

ADVENTURE'S IN WONDERLAND
On Sunday mornings, after the Time for All Children in worship, children from preschool through elementary school are invited to worship in a special setting using the Godly Play model. This Montessori-inspired method of teaching and learning, draws children into the stories of our faith and invites them to experience the Holy through creativity and imagination. Godly Play uses storytelling, reflection, art, writing, singing, and imaginative play to invite children into the story of God’s people – our story!

STRUCTURE OF GODLY PLAY
Similar to adult worship, at the beginning of each Godly Play session, children are greeted individually and are invited to get ready to be with God and with each other. The first thing they experience after they are greeted is the sacred story: the teacher tells a parable or a part of the Biblical narrative, using compelling three-dimensional materials, after which the children are invited to imagine themselves into the story during the time of wonder.
After the children get a chance to interact with the story as a group, each child is invited to choose the art options or storytelling materials to use as they continue to reflect on and connect with the story they heard.
Children's church allows our kids to worship in their own special place, with developmentally-appropriate activities, so they may worship more meaningfully with the congregation as they grow.
