Got Questions? We have (some) answers.
We realize it can feel a little daunting to walk through the doors of a church for the first time, but we hope you will feel at home at Christ Congregation. Here are a few tips to make your first visit easier:
Where do I go? Our church building is located at 50 Walnut Lane, which is at the intersection of Walnut Lane and Houghton Road. We are directly across the street from the Westminster Choir College (on Walnut) and Princeton High School (on Houghton). |

Our main entrance faces Walnut and our sanctuary is immediately to the right after you enter, directly behind the wall of windows in the picture on the right. Our parking lot (and back entrance) can be accessed off of Houghton Road, or you are welcome to park on the street. If you enter from the back, simply follow the hallway to the front of the church and the sanctuary will be on the left-hand side.
Are you LGBTQ friendly?
You bet! Love is an expression of God, and we love God!
When should I arrive?
Our Sunday worship is at 10:00 am. So that you won’t feel rushed, we recommend that you arrive 10 minutes before the service. If you are coming with children, please pick up a children's tote at the at the sanctuary entrance before finding your family a seat. We offer both a "Pray Ground" in the back of the sanctuary for kids under 4 and a nursery for infants and toddlers.. Learn more about our Sunday programming for children.
Will I have to introduce myself?
You can expect a warm greeting from members of the congregation, but don’t worry! You will not be asked to stand up and introduce yourself or pointed out as someone here for the first time.
What should I wear?
We're a pretty casual congregation. You’ll see everything from coat and tie to t-shirts and jeans. Most people find themselves somewhere in the middle. Please wear whatever makes you comfortable.
What is the service like?
Our members have described worship at Christ Congregation as "vibrant," "life-giving," "deep and intimate," and "Spirit-filled." Each service includes a mix of traditional and contemporary elements, from a formal anthem to a gregarious passing of the peace to extended periods of silent prayer. In all, a service typically lasts from 60 to 75 minutes.
What do I have to believe (or pretend to believe)?
We are non-creedal, which means that we believe in testimonies of faith, not tests of faith. At Christ Congregation you will find a diversity of beliefs, and have the opportunity to explore your beliefs more deeply. We take the Bible seriously but not literally. We are a Christ-centered church, and in the spirit of Jesus, we welcome everyone.
Is the church wheelchair accessible?
We are more accessible than some buildings, but we have a long way to go. Handicapped parking spaces are located in the parking lot behind the church, off Houghton Road. Our sanctuary is an open space with movable seating and we have an ADA compliant, single-stall bathroom.

Do you offer childcare for infants and toddlers?
Loving and tender care for little ones is available (and free) from 9:30 to 12:30 every Sunday. (Worship is typically over by 11, but extended care is offered for those who would like to attend "Second Hour," our adult education program.)
May I keep my child in worship?
Of course! As Jesus said, "Let the children come." We do understand that worship can be difficult for squirmy bodies, so please don’t worry if your child needs to move around. Activity bags are also available at the entrance to the sanctuary
